Their long shadows rake across the concrete planes, and their thruster wash blasts radial streaks of dust outward across the roof surfaces. Others lie prone in firing positions along the barricades, muzzle flashes winking from their rifles, tracer lines streaking flat across the concrete. Their figures are genuinely small against the architecture — the shot's whole truth is how little the soldiers are. Muzzle flashes and tracer fire rake in every direction: streams of rounds from the soldiers' line into the mecha's lower hulls, the mecha's cannons and the MT autocannons hammering downward, a shell impact blooming into a hard-edged bright burst among the yard crates with a shock ring and flying gravel. Burned craters pock the concrete in a scattered chain back toward the camera. Lighting: the fires and explosions are the dominant warm source, low-key orange and red flaring up from the ruptured tanks, the burning halls and the impact bursts, throwing the yard into a hot underlit register against the cool blue-grey overcast sky above.
