Redesign of Jon Kent

This project explores a visual and thematic redesign of Jon Kent (Jonathan Samuel Kent), originally created by Dan Jurgens. My objective is to explore the untapped narrative potential within his identity and his relationship with the wider Superman family. While I appreciate Jon Kent’s role as a representative of the LGBTQ+ community, this concept explores an alternative timeline to the "super-aging" trope. Instead, I am observing the potential of a dynamic similar to Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne, applied to Conner Kent and Jon Kent: Brotherhood: Re-envisioning Conner as a protective older brother figure who helps Jon navigate his path, rather than Jon replacing him in the Superboy mantle. Emotional Honesty: The concept explores a more grounded, "human" approach to Clark Kent’s reaction to Jon’s identity. By acknowledging Clark’s background rooted in the Bible Belt and his status as one of the last of his kind. the story can highlight a father’s internal struggle to reconcile his traditional upbringing with his unconditional love for his son. Spiritual Growth: Moving away from a "perfect" family dynamic allows for a more meaningful portrayal of growth. Observing these internal struggles can provide a sense of emotional honesty that mirrors the real-world experiences of many families.
