Nesia-chan Cross the Street
Nesia-chan’s Earth Journal No.3: The Kind Old Lady This world is so frightening. After I got chased out of that giant inn called a hotel because I had no money, I wandered all over the city looking for another place to sleep. I asked people again and again. I tried big inns, small inns, and even houses that looked like they might secretly be inns. None of them would take me in. I was tired, hungry, and honestly starting to think I might have to sleep by the roadside like a stray cat. Then I saw an old lady standing at the edge of the road. She looked like she wanted to cross, but the road was full of those terrifying horseless carriages rushing past one after another. Tiny ones, huge ones, shiny ones, loud ones, all of them roaring like angry monsters. I do not know how people here survive this every day. So I offered to help her cross. I held her hand, watched the road as bravely as I could, and guided her to the other side. My heart was pounding the whole time. I would honestly rather face a wild boar. It was so scary! But I still helped her... though, for a moment, I felt like she was the one helping me cross the street… Maybe it was just my imagination. In the end, the old lady thanked me with such a gentle smile that I almost forgot how miserable my day had been. Then she asked why I looked so troubled. When I told her I had no money and nowhere to stay, she looked surprised and said I could stay at her little inn for now. She even told me I could pay later. Really, I nearly cried on the spot! In this strange world, that kind old lady looked brighter than treasure.
