Moroboshi Ataru AKA Rake

Imagine you've grown up for a decade or more as a girl even if you were born as a boy. Imagine you've been psychologically preparing over that time to accept one of the greatest power sets in the known Universe when it comes time to see a promise you made to your adopted mother fulfilled. Imagine then losing EIGHT MONTHS of your life before waking up in a BATTLE DOLL body in the DOLL HOUSE of all places, permanently made male and remembering that you had been made to forget all your friends and adopted people, trapped in a home you didn't see as yours, could not sense the Gift see that had been part of your life for that decade and more...and by a sheer fluke of Fate, you were supposedly "married" to the second girl you helped save over a decade before from growing up literally a CRIPPLE in her native society. This was what happened to Moroboshi Ataru AKA Ataru Katabarbe the day after his seventeenth birthday. To say he was mad about what happened is putting it lightly. And while he could have easily disappeared from being tracked down by Redet Lum or any of her allies in Tomobiki — that part of the city of Nishitōkyō had been effectively WALLED OFF from sensing the true nature of events outside, especially with the presence of so many of "they who must never be named" on Earth! — he would briefly return around the time of Golden Week to publicly denounce EVERYONE who had anything to do with his life when he was marooned in Tomobiki. From parents who had no legal right to claim guardianship over him, then to two gluttonous religious figures who had been warped by evil energy that he saw soulsworded out of their bodies by Hashimoto Sei (THG Sendai), then to all the boys who harboured deep crushes on his so-called "wife" ("traitors to humanity", he called them), next to the girls he now wondered what made him chase them down like he had beforehand ("traitors to humanity by association", all thanks on their collective crush on Mendō Shūtarō), then to a "sexless thing" that was neither boy nor girl (Fujinami Ryūnosuke) and finally to two "monsters" (Redet Lum and Miyake Shinobu). Surrounded by almost three dozen cruiser shipgirls, that dressing down would unleash a TONNE of pain on all those Ataru now despised. And then he disappeared again, this time for over a month. With neither Lum nor Shūtarō unable to track him down, he was free to be with his half-sisters on Promised Island near Odawara, well clear of the Tōkyō metropolis and surrounded by people who did love him...including those who wanted to share his bed with him. That would end after the Oni's most powerful allies were totally wrecked in a Mother of All Fight Scenes, something Suzumiya Haruhi (the Weaver) was able to hide from the galaxy at large. But then he would continue the pressure, seeing his "wife" put into hospital again (the second time after an event after Golden Week) when his sisters began openly interacting with him, they making it VERY clear they didn't approve of Lum whatsoever. Another bout of disappearance when the existence of shipgirls went public thanks to the "extreme shipgirl" incident, then he'd return...but this time, backed by Itō Yoiko (THG Yonaga) and the Chihaya sisters (the Kongō-class fast battleships) atop Roberta Ansaldo (RM Roma), Paola di Pisa (RM Pola) and Catarina von Savoyen (USS Prinz Eugen). And all it took was another two months before Lum's "true" fiancé, Rupa Namabin of Yaminokuni, to arrive and press his own claim... ...and Ataru finally got the chance to become the Healer of Women's Hearts, Rake. An empath with equal power to his oldest half-sister Sukeyama Sakuya (Courtesan), Ataru inherited the rôle of being the father figure for those Yizibajohei females seeking a mate during "nesting season" (an insatiable drive to bear children which hits natives of that world in their early twenties). Of course, Roberta (being physically old enough) would experience her own nesting drive, which allowed Ataru to drive home to Lum how much he DESPISED her. And now that Earth is effectively free of the Oni and their allies...well, that will be another story.
