Light is a single cold diffuse glow from that lighter patch, so the snowman's upwind left edge catches a faint blue-white rim while the downwind side falls into soft grey shadow, and the cast shadow drags long and soft across the drift. Palette stays almost monochrome: charcoal greys, blue-white snow, a low band of darker slate drift in the depth, broken only by the orange of the carrot and the red and green of the plaid scarf. Bare hummocky snowfield with no trees, no buildings, no people. Cold, exhilarating.
