character: hippowdon 2 hippowdon, feral, aggressive fighting, two males, quadrupedal, wide sturdy build, sandy beige skin, grey hair, red eyes, fangs, open maw, bared teeth, biting, from below, low angle, wide shot, dynamic composition, riverside, river edge, splash, water spray, pebbles, silt, dust cloud, snarl, glaring at another, tension, motion blur on debris, dramatic sky From a low angle close to the waterline, two feral Hippowdon slam into each other at the river's edge, their bulk filling the lower two-thirds of the frame against a wide, overcast sky. Both are quadrupedal, heavy-set, with sandy beige hide plated in coarse grit, blunt wide snouts, red eyes narrowed to slits, and pale grey bristled manes sweeping back from their skulls; each mouth is wrenched open, fangs bared, one biting down on the ridge of the other's shoulder plating. The left Hippowdon plants all four feet in wet gravel, hips low, front-left leg braced forward against a half-submerged boulder, its shoulder driven up and into the right one's chest so that its hide puckers where the impact lands. The right Hippowdon has twisted its whole body to answer, rear feet scrabbling in churned silt, one foreleg hooked over the left one's neck, head wrenched sideways with mane flying, spittle strung from its lower jaw. Their eyes lock on each other, each one's glare meeting the other's, muzzles inches apart. Both bodies stand ankle-deep at the river's edge: water sheets off their legs in ragged curtains, the current breaks in white around each planted foot, and a fan of displaced spray and brown silt arcs out behind the right one where its rear foot has dug in. A dust-and-water cloud hangs around their shoulders, and scattered pebbles are frozen mid-toss in the air. Beyond them the river runs flat and pale, a far bank of reeds and low grey stones receding soft and out of focus, no other creatures anywhere. The light is flat and cool from a high overcast sky, shadowless except for a slight darkening under each body at the waterline; the only warm notes are the faint ochre in the disturbed silt and the dull red of their eyes. The palette holds to wet grey, sand beige, cold white water and a thin rust accent in the churned riverbed, nothing else admitted. Fangs are visible as pale hooks, the manes read as stiff bristle rather than soft fur, and the water's surface shows their reflection broken and darker than the bodies above it. Brutal, wild.
