Both of her hands come up dead center, fingers dug into the tentacle with whitened knuckles, thumbs hooked under the coil, wrists angled up and inward as she drags at it; the tentacle compresses under her grip, bulging slightly between her fingers. To her left, the monster's face pushes into frame from the side at cheek height, close enough that their cheeks almost touch: a smooth featureless pale head with flat black eye pits and a slow leer, one side flattened against the darkness behind, its breath faintly stirring a loose strand of her hair. Her blue hair falls back and away from her upturned face, the ornament at her ear catching the light. Above and beside her face, the white and dark blue cape lifts out of frame; at the very bottom edge only a sliver of the glossy white, dark blue and gold patterned suit crosses the crop, gold lines glinting on tight fabric, the cleavage slit and navel slit cut out of it below the frame line. Behind them, the dark abandoned factory sits out of focus: girders, a broken window high up, coils of pipe in near-black silhouette. A single cold gray light from the upper left strikes her forehead, the bridge of her nose, the tentacle's ridges and the monster's smooth temple, leaving their right sides in deep shadow, and the sole bright thing in the lower left is the wet glint on her shoulder as the sweat runs. The monster peers in from the left side of the frame, its face pushed close beside her cheek so the two are almost touching -- a monstrous face with no human eyes, a slit of a mouth, a jaw that splits too wide, its skin semi-translucent so the factory's dark girders and a hanging chain show faintly through its outline; the transparency eats at its edges into a soft shimmer where it vanishes and reappears. Its mouth is turned toward her ear, its mass crowding her cheek without contact except one wet tendril resting against her jaw.
The background is a dark abandoned factory reduced to two flat values: black girders, rusted pipes, a broken catwalk rail, all falling into darkness behind the two faces. The single light source is a cold blue-white shaft angling down from above and behind, so it rims the crown of her head and the ridge of the monster's brow while her face stays lit from below by a faint sodium-orange bounce off the unseen wet floor -- two temperatures, cold on the top edges, sickly warm under the chin and in the sweat. Where the light passes through the monster's translucent head it carries a dull colored shadow onto the girder behind it, darker and softer than the monster itself.
Palette is restricted to cold blue, wet black and the orange low-bounce, with her white-and-dark-blue suit only as a sliver of white piping and a gold glint at the very bottom edge of the crop.
