The palette is warm varnished browns and amber in the stage light against the deep navy of the blazers and the deep black of hair and clarinet, with the red of the neckties and skirts as the only saturated note, and the white of the collars and sheet music as its brightest high value.
Every soft surface absorbs rather than reflects: the felt of the chair, the wool of the blazer, the matte black of the clarinet's wood beside the shine of metal keys. Tender, absorbed.
