年貢の納め時…「年貢」とは今で言う税。江戸時代までかけて主に米や麦を納めていました。コレがかなり大変な事で、納められなかったら闇金の借金取りのような厳しい取り立てがあり、どうしてもダメなら差し押さえ…まるで強制的な破産ですね(^_^;) そして更には住む村からも重い犯罪者として扱われたそうです(・・；) 今より過激すぎでしょΣ!? …という事から、意味は概ね「物事を諦めて見切りをつけて、覚悟しなくてはならない時・その事態に対して、もうこれ以上は背をそむけ続ける事は無理、または逃げ切る事は不可能で精算しなければならない」という時に使われる慣用句です♪ 主に犯罪者に当てはめる事が多いですけど、事態や現状における精算なので何かから足を洗う時とか結婚を決める時とか等にも当てはめられるようです(⁠•⁠‿⁠•⁠)
