In the immediate midground resting on the horizontal planks of the veranda sits a low, square wooden sanbo stand supporting a neat geometric pyramid of smooth, round tsukimi dango dumplings. Directly adjacent to the stand, a tall ceramic vase anchors a bundle of arching susuki pampas grass whose feathery, plume-like tassels curve gracefully outward, alongside a small flat woven dish displaying whole seasonal persimmons with prominent calyxes and glossy chestnuts. Along the side of the veranda, a partially opened shoji sliding door shows its crisp rectangular lattice framework. In the vast open sky beyond the courtyard, an immense, radiant full harvest moon dominates the upper frame, framed by sweeping, translucent horizontal ribbons of drifting ink clouds. Along the distant horizon, soft overlapping silhouettes of undulating dark hills sit under the vast expanse of black sky. The bright moon serves as the sole illumination; its light casts long, sharp cross-hatched shadows of the dango pyramid, grass stems, and shoji frame angling uniformly across the grooved seams of the wooden floorboards. Executed in high-contrast black-and-white ink rendering with visible brushstrokes, combining bold outlines and fine cross-hatched shading, featuring strong, graphic linework, sharp ink-like strokes, bold silhouettes, and crisp edges emphasizing light-dark tension. Quiet and serene.
