The Green Child on the Cliff

There's something so freeing about this image of a green-skinned child standing on a cliff edge with arms wide open. I'm really drawn to the sense of wonder and the beautiful play of light across the scene. If this resonates with you, please like and follow for more art, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!

character: gir_(invader_zim), copyright: invader_zim 1girl, solo, gir_(invader_zim), view from above, downward view, from above, high angle, looking up, standing on cliff edge, cliff, outdoors, standing, arms out, robot, green skin, barefoot, black shorts, green jacket, hood down, long sleeves, crop top, short hair over one eye, ponytail, dark hair, antennae, large glossy eyes, rounded babyish face, small stature, light smile, open mouth, wide-eyed, preppy gothic, dark pastel palette, heavy outer line weight, fine inner line detail, red-toned multiply shading, soft gradient coloring, vibrant color contrast, bright highlights, distant ocean, rocky ledge, daylight, The camera looks steeply down from above the cliff, so the small robot figure is seen from overhead and slightly behind the crown of his head: a rounded babyish head with smooth green skin, a stubby antenna springing up, short dark hair swept over one eye and gathered into a little ponytail at the back, the pointed tips of his ears catching light. He stands right at the lip of the cliff, bare feet spread for balance, toes gripping the cracked stone, heels overhanging into empty air. His arms are flung out to either side, fingers splayed, caught mid-hop or mid-giggle, one shoulder hiked higher than the other so the black shorts and green jacket sit lopsided; the green jacket hangs open over a bare midriff shirt, sleeves pushed to the wrist. Beneath and around him the cliff face drops away into a hazy blue-green sea far below, gulls as small dark commas, and a soft band of cloud catching the light. A bright slant of afternoon sun comes from the upper left, hard-edged shadows thrown down and to the right across the rock, warm red-toned shading pooling in the creases of the jacket and under the hair, glossy highlights glinting on his green skin, eyes and the polished stone edge. Heavy black outer contour lines wrap the silhouette while fine cross-hatching and dot shading work the rock and the cloth. The stone under his feet is warm grey with rust-colored lichen; the sky a pale wash of pastel blue grading to peach at the horizon. A faint dusting of windblown grit skitters along the ledge and off the edge. Playful and buoyant.
