comic, 4koma, multiple views, 1girl, solo, long chestnut hair, low ponytail, hair tied back, pale cotton blouse, puffed sleeves, dark corduroy pinafore skirt, golden apple, bite mark on apple, holding apple, surprised, wide-eyed, open mouth, dizzy, spiral in eye, falling, unconscious, lying on back on ground, from above, from below, close-up, tree shade, dappled light, speech bubble, "delicious...", black and white, screentone, hatching, panel borders A black-and-white four-panel comic strip stacked vertically, panel borders ruled in black ink, screentone and hatched shadows, four distinct beats in reading order. Panel 1: a wide shot from below, low among the roots of a large tree, its canopy filling the top of the frame; a girl with long chestnut hair in a low ponytail, pale blouse with puffed sleeves rendered in flat light gray tone, dark corduroy pinafore skirt rendered in darker tone with hatch lines for the ribbed texture, crouches on her heels at the edge of the shade, knees together, one hand braced on the grass, the other lifting a golden apple from the ground; the apple is the only rounded, bright thing in the panel, sitting on the grass half in shade, its highlight drawn with clean white ink; she looks down at the apple, chin dipped, ponytail sliding forward over her shoulder. Panel 2: a close-up from slightly above of her face and hands, the apple raised to her mouth, a crescent bite already missing from its skin; her eyes are wide and her brows shoot up, mouth still parted around the fruit, a thread of juice on her lip; a round speech bubble beside her cheek holds the word "delicious..." in lowercase hand-lettering, its tail pointing to her mouth, and the word sits inside the bubble's curve. Panel 3: a medium shot, the world tilting with a slight dutch angle, the tree trunk behind her leaning; the apple hangs loose in her hand at hip height, her other hand pressing to her temple, eyes half closed with one drawn spiral in the eye, a loose cluster of wavering speed lines circling her head, her ponytail swinging out because her weight has started to go sideways; hatched shadow from the leaves crawls across the blouse. Panel 4: a high-angle shot looking straight down, the girl lying unconscious on her back on the grass, one arm flung out, the other bent across her stomach, ponytail fanned loose, hair spread out over the hatched ground; the bitten golden apple has rolled a short distance away across the grass and stopped, leaving a bent, matted path of grass blades along its roll; her face is slack, eyes closed, mouth just open; the edge of the tree's shadow cuts diagonally across her legs, so only the apple and her skirt lie in shade. Rendering: black ink linework with screentone gradients, spotting blacks in the canopy, white paper for the highlights on the apple; no hue words anywhere. Quiet, drowsy dread.
