character: matou_sakura_(fate/zero), copyright: fate/zero 1girl, solo, child, matou sakura, fate/zero, short purple hair, small ribbon in hair, purple eyes, hollow eyes, no highlights in eyes, empty eyes, expressionless, blank stare, lying on back, on floor, limp, limp body, relaxed, sprawled, arms at sides, dirty white dress, soiled clothing, grime, bare feet, dark dungeon, windowless, stone walls, underground, large maggots, many worms, swarm on floor, dim green lighting, green light, horror, dark atmosphere, from above, foreshortening, dutch angle, Shot from a steep high angle looking almost straight down into a windowless stone cellar, the camera tilted a few degrees off plumb so the floor's flags run diagonally out of the frame corners. A single small girl, about ten years old, lies flat on her back across the center of the wet stone floor, her spine straight along the ground and her head tilted slightly to her right cheek, chin tipped back. Her short purple hair is fanned and flattened against the stone, loosed strands damp and clinging at her temple, one small ribbon knotted at the side of her head and half-slipped from its tie. Her white one-piece dress is filthy — grey-brown grime driven into the seams, hem and collar gone the colour of wet ash, one shoulder strap fallen down her upper arm, the fabric pooled and wrinkled where her hips press it into the floor. Her arms lie loosely at her sides, palms up, fingers half-curled and not touching anything; her legs are slack and slightly apart, one knee fallen inward, bare feet turned out, toes unnaturally still. Her face is utterly vacant: eyes open and staring up past the camera entirely empty, both irises flat and lusterless with no catchlight at all, lips gently parted, brows neither drawn nor raised. The floor around and beneath her is buried under a dense carpet of large, glistening maggots, each as long as her hand, packed shoulder to shoulder, wriggling in slow surges that lift a few heads above the mass and roll back down. The swarm presses right up against her dress's edge and climbs a little over the hem and along the outer forearm, never over her face. Where the mass heaves, it rises in a pale slick mound around her silhouette and sinks again — her body sits in a shallow depression in the living carpet. The only light is a dim green glow from somewhere high and out of frame, cold and sickly, saturating the stone walls and leaving the far corners in near-solid darkness. It lights the upward-facing surfaces — her forehead, the bridge of her nose, the ridge of the fallen dress strap, the curved backs of the maggots — and pools in deep shadow beneath the writhing bodies; the walls hold no windows, only joints of damp mortar and a few streaks of moisture running down. Palette confined to sick green, mould grey-green, the dead white of the dress and the flat violet of her hair. Tender horror, quiet dread.
