Her long hair is split into two high twin tails, each tied with a red ribbon, and the tails swing out and down toward the left of frame as her head tips, the ribbon bows sitting slightly askew. Her right arm is bent at the elbow and raised, and between her thumb and two fingers she pinches the white paper stick of a fat, glossy lollipop, its disc a tight spiral of red, orange and yellow sugar catching the light along its rim; the candy sits just below her chin, and her left hand is loosely cupped near her hip. Behind her, the long thin demon tail sweeps out low from the small of her back and coils once and a half around the flanks of a carved orange jack-o'-lantern, the pointed spade tip coming to rest pressed against the pumpkin's rib just under its cut lid, the skin of the tail dimpling the pumpkin's surface where it grips. The jack-o'-lantern sits on the ground below and to the right of her; its jagged triangular eyes and toothed mouth glow from inside, since a candle burns within it. She wears a short black velvet dress whose nap catches the light in a soft sheen across the bodice and goes dark in the folds of the skirt, a white lace Peter Pan collar lying flat around her throat with its scalloped edge picking up the warm light, and black stockings on both legs, the lifted right foot's stocking catching a thin highlight along the shin. The jack-o'-lantern's candle is the only light source. It throws warm amber uplight onto the underside of her chin, the inner curves of her horns, the belly of the lollipop and the front of her stockings, while the top of her head, the tops of her twin tails and the upper half of the frame fall into deep blue-black shadow; a soft warm cast shadow spills across the ground to the left of the pumpkin, and her own shadow stretches long behind her. Palette held to the pumpkin's orange and the candy's red-orange spiral, the black of velvet and stockings, the white of lace and candy stick, and the cold near-black of the night around them. The carved mouth of the pumpkin throws a small fan of light onto the tail's coils where they cross it. Playful, cozy Halloween mischief.
