On the right of the frame a dark-skinned girl is pinned flat against that wall: her arms are thrown wide and spread out against the concrete, palms turned outward and pressed to the stone, and bands of pale spider silk cross her wrists, forearms, ribs and shoulders, binding her to the wall so her back and shoulders meet the concrete and her chest is pushed forward. Silk wraps her legs and waist; a dense pad of webbing is stretched over her mouth. A black cloak with a red inner lining falls open behind her spread arms and drapes down the wall, its red lining catching the little light there is; under it she wears a black suit whose high mystical collar frames her throat and dips to expose her cleavage, and a ruby brooch fastens the collar at her chest. Her long dark brown hair hangs loose, swept asymmetrical bangs falling across her forehead so one side is long and one side is combed back. Her blue eyes are turned hard left toward the woman in the foreground and her brows are drawn down in an angry, pained grimace; a dark mole sits under each eye; a thin line of blood seeps from the corner of her webbed mouth and runs down her chin. Where the silk bites into her arms, the flesh of her lamprey fusion puckers in a ring of small round teeth around a pale sucking mouth low at the side of her throat, pressed against the wall. In the left foreground, closer to the camera and shown to the waist, the cyborg woman is turned in profile toward the bound girl. Her cyan hair is medium-length, flowing and lifted slightly by her sudden movement; her cyan eyes are fixed on the girl across the room. On her left cheek a scar shaped like a bite mark of sharp teeth shows clearly in profile. She wears a form-fitting neon cyan bodysuit whose cyan exoskeleton plates blend organically into her skin along her shoulders and arms, and the fabric itself is woven with an intricate spider-web pattern that stretches with her. Her face is contorted in angry pain, her mouth open wide, and blood seeps from her open mouth and smears her lower lip and chin. Her right hand is thrown forward toward the girl, the fingers and back of the hand matted with fine silk, and from that hand a taut strand of fresh web shoots across the frame toward the bound girl, catching the light along its length. The room is a decrepit, dank basement of an abandoned building: cracked and water-stained concrete walls, a sagging pipe, and drifts of cobweb sagging in every corner between the pipes and beams. In the background behind the two women, clusters of pale mushrooms sprout from the damp floor and the base of the wall, their caps lit faintly from one side. A single bare bulb hangs out of frame to the upper left; it is the only light source, a cold dim glow falling on the woman's wet shoulder and the taut web strand, catching the red lining of the cloak and skimming the mushroom caps, while the rest of the cellar sinks into blackness. The web strand glistens and the silk bands on the girl's arms go slack where they are soaked. The palette holds black, wet grey concrete, pale bone-white silk and mushroom caps, the cold cyan of the woman's bodysuit and hair, and the red of the cloak lining and brooch. Creepy and tense.
