A solitary figure stands in the dark, a girl of seventeen with a round, soft-cheeked face that holds the last traces of youth—full cheeks, smooth skin warmed by a healthy flush, a small straight nose, and thin lips set in a natural downward curve that gives her nothing but a quiet neutrality. Her eyes are large and sharp, dark red like old blood, but they hold nothing—no curiosity, no defiance, no coldness, just an empty flatness, half-lidded and still, as if she has already seen everything and found none of it worth a second glance. Her expression is a blank sheet, unreadable and utterly still. Her hair is long and straight, pure black at the crown, tied high into a ponytail with a worn red fabric tie, the color bleeding from black to bright crimson from her shoulder blades downward, the tips vivid as fresh flame. Several thin strands of crimson have come loose, falling across her forehead to brush against her left eyebrow. On the left corner of her mouth, where the skin meets the lip, rests a single tiny dark mole—precise, deliberate, the only mark on her face. Another small dark mole hides at the edge of her right breast, tucked just where the bandage meets bare skin, visible only when the fabric shifts.
Her body is young and slim, a waist that curves inward and hips just beginning to round—not childlike, not fully woman, somewhere between. She wears an asymmetrical armor: on her left side, bright vermilion segmented plates with raised bone-like ridges tracing each piece like exposed ribs. The chest piece is a wolf's claw—five curved tips extending toward her center, cupping her entire left breast in a grip of painted iron. All edges are trimmed in matte black, and coarse grey wolf fur lines her shoulder collar. Black hemp cords bind the armor at her shoulder and waist, their short tassels hanging still. Her left arm is fully encased in a matching vermilion gauntlet, the same bone ridges and black trim running from shoulder to knuckles. Her right side is bare—no armor, no fabric, only smooth skin from shoulder to waist. A deep crimson kimono is draped diagonally from under her left shoulder armor across her torso, its fabric slipping off her right shoulder and bunching into heavy folds at her waist, then cascading into a flowing skirt panel that falls to her mid-calf. The crimson cloth holds faint black floral patterns, barely visible except in the right light, and its black inner lining peeks through only at the hem.
Across her chest, off-white cotton bandages wrap from underbust to armpit—on the left, they are hidden beneath the claw-shaped armor; on the right, they lie exposed, tight against her skin, showing the faint lines of each winding layer. At the center of her chest, a small faded crimson stain darkens the bandages, a mark of long wear, and from a thin black cord, a wolf-tooth amulet hangs directly over it, the pale tooth stark against the cloth. On her left hip, a kusazuri skirt armor of three overlapping vermilion plates hangs, black-edged and trimmed at the top with the same grey wolf fur. Her left leg is wrapped in black fishnet tights from toe to thigh, with a delicate black garter strap holding them in place. Her right leg is completely bare from thigh to ankle, and on the inside of her thigh, faint pink riding marks are visible—faded stripes that speak of years in the saddle. On her left foot, the fishnet continues down over the toes; on her right foot, she wears a short black split-toe tabi that covers only the ball and big toe, leaving her heel and ankle naked. Both feet are set in black lacquered wooden sandals, the left strap pulled tight and the right hanging loose, as though halfway undone. On both feet, her toenails gleam with bright crimson polish.
At her right hip, a katana hangs from a black cord tied to the kimono waist—its scabbard black lacquered wood with a single thin vermilion stripe running its full length, the blade resting diagonally against her bare right thigh. A tiny wolf-tooth charm is tied to her right wrist with a thin black cord, swaying slightly with her stillness. She stands angled, her bare right side turned more toward the viewer, her left shoulder lifted just slightly by the weight of the armor, her right shoulder relaxed and open. Her black hair falls over that bare shoulder, the crimson tips brushing against her skin like a whisper of fire. Her head is straight, her chin level, her eyes looking forward from beneath her crimson bangs with nothing in them—no anger, no invitation, no refusal, just the empty stillness of a surface that does not wish to be read. The light catches her from the right, warm gold illuminating her bare shoulder, her naked arm, her exposed leg, the curve of her cheek; on the left, cool shadow sinks into her armor, turning vermilion to near-black and hiding the wolf fur in blue-grey darkness. Behind her, the background is clean and dark, making her alone in the frame—small, still, half-wrapped in iron and half in silk, her twin moles the only marks on her face and skin, the only sign that someone once took care in placing them there.
