Miyake Junba

The female star of Twenty Years Later. She is the daughter of Nassur of Vos and his wife, the former Shigaten Benten of Fukunokami. Shortly after her birth, Nassur and Benten were forced to send their child to Earth to prevent her from being captured by what later was revealed to be the forces of Queen Elle. Crashlanding in Tomobiki, said capsule was soon discovered by the normal crowd, then her godmother Miyake Shinobu took Junba in as her adopted daughter. And for almost two decades, Junba was left nearly clueless as to the truth of her parentage despite attempts by Moroboshi Ataru, his wife Lum and others to persuade Shinobu to come clean with same. It was difficult at times. Being what she was, Junba inherited many things from her father, including the standard Vosian lifespan (average of five centuries), the "age day" physical growth spurts which occur every five years after "stop time" (at age fourteen), not to mention the various psionic abilities that Vosians had and that Nassur had quite in abundance thanks to his own natural gifts and excellent training from various masters such as Varanko of Kyotos. Discovering her abilities as she grew up, Junba would eventually form a pe'cha (psionic blood-sibling bond) with Fujinami Dansei, whom she befriended in elementary school; this would, for good and ill, help Dansei develop a much more balanced sense of self-identity in the face of the overwhelming influence of her grandfather Fujimi, who was determined to see Dansei (and yes, that's commonly written with the kanji "男性" meaning "male person"; legally, Dansei's name is written "暖靖" meaning "calm warmth") be his proper "grandSON" to inherit the long-defunct Hamachaya Teashop. Since Shinobu was incapable of helping Junba master her own powers due to her having inherited Sagussan abilities (which developed from different genetics and was influenced by the inner "eye" natives of that world had towards the backscatter energy of the Big Bang they called "Te'a" or "That Which Is Above mortal understanding"), there was no way to avert what would later happen that would force Unmyon Seikō (daughter of Mie Seikō, Shinobu's Sagussan-born classmate from The Senior Year) to sever the pe'cha bond to ensure Dansei could retain control over her own sense of self and not automatically defer to Junba as she began to demonstrate in recent times. This was thanks to the shock revelation of Junba's true parentage at the start of the 20YL series, when a desperate Benten was able to escape Elle and flee to Earth to get help in rescuing her husband. Once that kerfuffle was over with, Junba would soon meet Kuriinba Hōshōba AKA Hazel, leader of Nassur's and Benten's large group of hybrid hunter students. With the presence of someone approximately her emotional age (even if chronologically, Hazel is only four years younger than Benten or Shinobu) who was raised in a mostly-Vosian lifestyle, Junba gravitated to her right away to learn everything about her father's people. This would effectively leave Dansei in the lurch, that soon being exacerbated by the sudden interest of one Seq Ron (Ran's young daughter) in obtaining Dansei as her "boyfriend"; that ultimately bred a tonne of resentment in Dansei towards Hazel and would ultimately lead to her seeking Unmyon's help in severing the pe'cha bond with Junba. It was at that same time that she met Jamie McTavish, with all the issues that would cause. And while Junba and Dansei would reconcile (and Dansei would later form a pe'cha bond with Hazel, though such was short-lived when Unmyon found out and put her foot down HARD on that case), the insanity rocking the Fujinami family would continue despite efforts from Jamie, Moroboshi Koishii and even a group of freshman toughs led by the "ice girl" Inochi Senkoko to put a full stop to it and forcefully make Ron's eyes open about what she was ultimately doing. Junba would be quite relieved when Shogai Meigo would take Dansei under her wing and remove her far from Ron's or Fujimi's reach to allow the poor girl to discover herself properly without any outside interference. Trusting the A'g'san teen to do the right thing, Junba could then concentrate on evolving herself... ...if she could only figure out why was it that Jamie and his family always looked at her so sadly...! That's another story.
