Experiment - The Beastwoman dislikes clothing
[Author's note: There's going to be a bit of a pause on the Outlaw Country story. I'm taking a look at the materials I already have written and it's too much for what I want to go over. There were two story points that I have already cut, with more to come. One was a part where the camp was going to get attacked by dinosaurs and our heroes have to protect the camp and the people in it. Another was there was going to be an escalation of aggression between Addams and Captain Matsuda, ultimately leading to an accidental gun discharge and Hardev getting shot, so now Addams and Matsuda have to work together to save Hardev's life. Both are fun/interesting story angles, but sadly I don't have the time to properly explore these ideas. The curse of media editing. In any case, I'm still reworking the story and trying to slim it down enough so that it is manageable. I'll probably explore the Outlaw Country travel series in the meantime. I have all the images up, I just need to write up the accompanying text. So yeah, a small update on the Outlaw Country situation] -- I'm continuing off of an idea I touched upon in the first Lizard Beastwoman (I really have to give her and the wizard names) published pieces. Once bestowed with intelligence via the magic necklace, she had to become familiar with how to live in modern society. While she is learning how to interact with those outside her species, the process is not without its problems. I'm still playing around with some of the details, but I'm thinking the two problems our Beastwoman will have are 1) wearing clothes and 2) choosing her wording carefully. The mindset is that the beastpeople are of intelligence between an animal and a person, they are scavengers/hunter-gatherers, and their culture is very direct and to-the-point. They have no need for clothes or linguistic subtleties. While the Beastwoman has some successes and some failures in conversing with people, the clothes problem is one she has put up resistance to. At some point, the Beastwoman and the Adventuring Party came to a compromise on the bikini armor, and even that is a tenuous truce. Wizard: "There must be one dress in this store that you like? What about this one?" Beastwoman: "I'd...I'd rather not. The clothing feels gross on my skin and the dresses will interfere with my mobility, should we get ambushed." The Wizard sighs and buries his face into the palm of his hands. Wizard: *groans* "Well, we have to find you something! We have that big dinner with the Viceroy of Demonte coming up and you have to wear something else. Please keep an open mind. Please..." The clerk senses the Wizard's exhaustion and desperation, then has a flash of brilliance! Clerk: "Ah! Young man, Ms. Lizard, I think I have a solution! We also happen to carry a large assortment of formal robes, normally used by academics and clergymen. They would be appropriate for the dining event, the materials are light and airy enough so that it shouldn't bother your skin so much, and should an ambush take place *muted giggling* it would be easy to cast it aside for more mobility. She could even wear what she has on now, just under the robe!" Both the Wizard and the Lizard Beastwoman turn to the clerk and nod in approval. They both excitedly speak in unison. Wiz/Liz: "YES! LET'S DO THAT!" [End Scene]
