EP04:長門の美味しいおもてなし
連合艦隊司令長官・山本五十六は、大の甘党として知られていました。特に故郷である新潟県長岡の名物「水まんじゅう」（一般的な水まんじゅうとは異なるもの）が大好物で、わざわざ長岡から政府庁舎まで届けさせていたという逸話が残るほどです。また山本長官は、連合艦隊旗艦を長く務めた戦艦長門を非常に気に入っていました。そのため、自身が乗る長門が停泊している際にもこの水まんじゅうを届けさせたり、あるいは、当時の帝国ホテルの料理長に匹敵するほどの腕前を持っていた長門主計科の乗組員たちに、艦内で作らせていたのかもしれません。
