A high-angle shot looking down at a little girl crouching in a thick, viscous brown mud puddle. She is wearing a kindergarten uniform consisting of a white short-sleeved cotton blouse and a navy blue pinafore-style tunic dress over white knee socks; the entire outfit is saturated with rain, causing the white fabric of the blouse to cling tightly to her skin and become translucent. She is leaning forward on her hands and knees, palms pressed deep into the mud, with a wide, joyful grin and sparkling eyes looking directly up at the lens. Raindrops continue to fall, creating small concentric ripples in the muddy water around her. Her damp hair clings in several stray strands across her forehead and cheeks. The light is a soft, diffused grey from an overcast sky, casting no harsh shadows and saturating the deep brown of the mud against the dampened navy blue of her dress. The palette is dominated by earthy browns and muted blues, contrasted by the wet, translucent white of her blouse. Childlike joy.
