Tears on the Diamond: Fennec from Kemono Friends

I just can't help but feel my heart ache seeing Fennec looking so down on the baseball field. Even though she's crying, her dedication to the game and her adorable fox features make this such a touching piece that I really wanted to share. If you love Kemono Friends as much as I do, please give this a like and follow for more content!

He sits back on his heels on the packed dirt of the infield, both knees folded under him, shins flat, the white socks drawn up over his ankles and disappearing under the loose navy shorts. His oversized grey crop top hangs off one shoulder, the long sleeves bunched at his wrists and the hem riding up to expose his bare midriff and the small soft bulge pressing at the front of his shorts. Both hands cup the baseball low in his lap, thumbs meeting over the seams, dirt smudged across the leather. His ears are huge and folded back, the fennec tips drooping, and his fluffy multicolored tail curls around his hip in the dirt. A red lump rises on the crown of his head, fur parted around it. His brown eyes are lowered, wet with tears that streak the pale fur of his cheeks, one tear catching at his chin. Around him: the packed dirt of the infield with scuffed shoe marks, a white chalk line running diagonally past his knee, and in the middle distance the raised pitcher's mound, a chain-link backstop, and the grass outfield under a soft overcast sky. The light is diffuse and cool, casting a faint shadow beneath his tucked legs and picking out the wet shine on his cheeks and the leather of the ball. The palette stays in warm yellows and pinks of his fur against the cool grey and green of the field. Melancholy.
