Steam rises in a soft veil that thins where the lamp burns through it, and the water's surface carries slow concentric rings rolling out from the small movement of Shampoo's lifted hand, breaking into bright caustic lines on the tiled wall behind them. Palette of deep indigo water, warm amber lamplight, pale porcelain blue-white tile and the violet of her hair, everything tender, warm and entirely chaste, the towels and waterline keeping the composition modest.
