The window dominates the right of the frame, its iron frame and mullions drawn as solid stair-stepped black bars; beyond the glass a dense wall of towers rises from the bottom of the pane to the top, stacked in receding tiers of deep navy and violet, each tier a row of tiny lit windows, and two colossal hologram advertisements hang in the air between the towers — one a tower-tall pink figure of a woman in mid-gesture, its edges dissolving upward into scanline bands, the other a cyan kanji sign twice as wide as it is tall, its light bleeding a cold halo into the wet air. Rain falls in the gap between the apartment and the city, thin vertical dashes of pale cyan light that streak down the outside of the glass; the drops that cling to the pane break the hologram glow into crisp square glints, and each glint is a single hard pixel, not a soft bloom. The city's neon is the only light on that side of the room: it lays a cold cyan edge along the window frame, the sill and the near shoulder of the bed, and casts a faint blue rectangular projection onto the floorboards just inside the window. The interior answers with warm light. Fairy lights loop in a shallow sag along the wall above the desk, a string of small bulbs drawn as alternating ochre and amber pixels, each bulb with a one-pixel darker rim and a two-pixel warm falloff on the plaster; the strand is held by two small nails and dips lowest over the monitor stack. The CRT monitors sit angled toward each other on the plank desk, their screens filled with rows of tiny green code glyphs that read as illegible pixel texture, and the curved glass of each screen is drawn with a bright core and a darker top-left corner where the ambient room light cannot reach. A vinyl record turns on the turntable at the left of the desk, the tonearm lowered into the groove; the record's surface is concentric rings of near-black and one warm highlight, and the dust cover is hinged open at a steep angle so the record's edge is clearly visible. Potted plants crowd the windowsill and the desk corner — a trailing pothos whose leaves hang down over the monitor's top edge, a spiky plant in a chipped terracotta pot — each leaf a flat mid-green shape with a single lighter pixel ridge and a warm rim from the fairy lights. The bed occupies the right foreground-to-midground, pushed against the wall below the window, its blanket pulled half off one corner and hanging to the floor in a hard-edged zigzag hem. On the center of the mattress a small robot cat is curled into a tight comma, its body a smooth capsule of pale steel grey with a segmented tail wrapped around its own flank; its head is tucked down so only the back of the skull and one antenna show, a single rectangular ear standing upright, and a thin seam of blue light runs along the base of its tail. The blanket beneath it compresses into a shallow dip, its folds drawn as shorter, tighter stepped lines directly under the cat's weight. The floor holds the clutter: a stack of records leaning against the desk leg, a coiled cable, a mug, a pair of slippers half off a foot, an amplifier with a single red power light. The palette is strictly limited and stated as a discipline — deep navy and black for the city and shadow, cyan and magenta only in the window and on the neon-lit rims, amber and ochre only inside the fairy-light pool and the monitor spill, flat mid-green for the plants, and one warm peach accent on the blanket; every transition between those zones is broken with dithered checkerboard so that warm interior and cold night meet in a stippled seam down the middle of the room, never a smooth gradient. Hard-edged one-pixel stair-stepping defines every silhouette, and the whole image carries a strongly visible chunky pixel grid, low-resolution and deliberately coarse, with no anti-aliasing anywhere. Quiet, cozy, melancholic.
