2girls, raven_(dc), short purple bob cut hair, purple eyes, grey-lavender skin, black leotard, black boots, dark hooded cloak with a deep hood lowered on her shoulders, chakra gem on the forehead, shadow self, identical silhouette rendered as a flat living shadow, featureless black face with two glowing white slit eyes, jagged uneven outline, from behind, over-shoulder composition, dutch angle, back to camera, looking back, head turned over her shoulder, uneasy, wide-eyed, pupils shrunk, sweat on temple, bitten lower lip, stiff shoulders, clutching her own upper arm, leaning away, walking away from the shadow, shadow looming behind her, looming, shadow reaching out, clawed hand of shadow, fingers outstretched toward her shoulder, corridor, long hallway, metal grating floor, dim emergency lighting, single flickering wall lamp, long cast shadow, looking at another, tension, ominous, dark purple palette
A dutch-tilted over-shoulder shot from behind Raven, the camera placed low and close behind her left shoulder so her back fills the left third of the frame and the corridor's length recedes diagonally toward the top-right corner. Raven is caught mid-step walking away from the lens: her weight is on her front right foot, her left heel just lifting off the metal grating, hips and shoulders twisted apart. She has thrown her head back over her right shoulder, chin tucked low into the collar of her cloak, so we see the sharp line of her jaw and one wide purple eye angled back into the dark — pupil shrunken, whites showing, a bead of sweat at the temple, lower lip caught under her front teeth. Her right hand crosses her body and grips her own left upper arm, the fingers dug into the black fabric of her leotard; her left arm hangs tense and half-curled. The short purple bob is caught mid-turn, its blunt ends flicked outward, a couple of strands lifted off her cheek; the hood lies flat and heavy on her shoulders, and the hem of the cloak swings out behind her knee with the motion of the step.
Behind her, deeper in the corridor and a full body-length back, the shadow self keeps pace — a flat, matte-black duplicate of her silhouette that reads as a cut-out of absolute darkness, its edges frayed and subtly wrong, too many small ragged points along the arms and the hem of its cloak. It has no face but two narrow glowing white slits where her eyes would be, tilted down toward her. Its right arm is up and extended between them, long fingers splayed wide, and the gesture overlaps her silhouette: the clawed shadow hand hangs in the air just short of her left shoulder, close enough to brush the ends of her cloak but not touching. Its lead foot is planted flat and its trailing foot is lifted, caught in the mirror of her stride, one beat behind hers.
The only light is a single caged wall lamp high on the right-hand wall between the two figures; it throws a hard top-down rake across the corridor, brightening the crown of Raven's head, the top of her shoulder, and one edge of the shadow's reaching arm, while both their faces and the floor immediately beneath them fall into purple-black. The lamp is the sole source: past its pool the far end of the corridor goes to absolute darkness. The metal grating runs with long parallel lines and its wet sheen carries a narrow, broken reflection of the lamp that snaps wider and thinner as the panels pass under it. Colour is held to three values — the cold violet-grey of her skin, the flat dead black of the shadow self, and the sickly amber-white of the single lamp; nothing else is admitted.
Detail budget sits on the turn of her neck and the one visible eye, on the clawed hand and the exact gap of air between it and her cloak, and on the parallel lines of the grating pulling the perspective toward the vanishing point. Quiet dread.
