She is collared: a wide riveted steel band sits low around her throat, a ring at its front, a chain dropping from it and lying across her collarbone before disappearing behind the cuff chain, so the two runs of metal nearly meet at the centre of her chest. Her chin dips toward the collar, eyes sliding up to the lens from under her brows, lips pressed closed with the lower one caught slightly, a faint flush high on her cheeks and a shallow gathered brow — not fear, but a small, braced unease. The ponytail is tied high at the back of her head with the flower ornament pinned at its base, and because her head tips down the tail falls forward over her right shoulder, its tip brushing the collar's edge; the long side locks hang free past her jaw. Her gaze is up and toward the viewer, held steady even as the chin stays lowered. The cell is bare concrete: a low plank bunk along the right-hand wall behind her, a bucket on the floor in the far corner, a small barred window high in the back wall. Palette is restricted to charcoal, cold steel grey, concrete brown-grey and the white of the stripes, with her warm brown hair and the single small flower as the only saturated notes. The chain's lowest link is held just off the floor, so it reads exactly how much slack she has left. Cold, hushed unease.
