fisheye lens, close-up, face close-up, from above, looking down at viewer, leaning forward, crouching, peering, 1boy, solo, tall, heterochromia, odd eyes, one red eye, one pale gold eye, creepy dark eyes, heavy-lidded, black hair, slicked-back set hair, updo, top hat, silk top hat, gentleman, striped tuxedo, pinstripe suit, gloves, black gloves, sharp teeth, grin, wide toothy grin, halloween, dark, antique, gothic, low-key lighting, dutch angle tilt
Extreme fisheye close-up from above: the gentleman's face fills the bulging centre of the frame, his crown and the brim of his silk top hat arcing across the top of the lens and bending with the fisheye distortion, the hat's silk catching one long warped highlight that slides down its curve. He is crouched low and pitched far forward so his face is pushed toward the glass, chin dropped, skull foreshortened, the tuxedo's pinstripes flaring outward at the frame's lower edges where his shoulders slope away into the distortion. His slicked-back set black hair is combed hard off the brow in tight ordered strands, and the fisheye exaggerates the width of the temples while pinching the crown. The two eyes do not match: one a hot ember red, the other a cold pale gold, both sunk in shadowed sockets, lids heavy and half-lowered, giving back no warm light, the pupils fixed on the viewer with an unblinking predatory stillness. His grin splits wide and lopsided, one corner hitched higher, lips peeled back off a row of narrow needle-sharp teeth that catch pinpoints of light along the gum line; a faint dark gap shows between the front teeth. One gloved hand has come up into the near foreground at the lower left of the frame, black leather fingers curled and huge in the fisheye, close enough that the seams and the shine of the knuckle leather read clearly, and it is that hand, planted forward, that takes his weight in the crouch. A small antique pocket watch chain swings loose from his waistcoat into the distortion, its links stretched by the lens.
The light is a single low warm source from below and in front, the way a jack-o'-lantern or a candle would throw it: it pushes the hollows of his cheeks and eye sockets into deep shadow, lights the underside of his jaw and the sharp edges of his teeth, and leaves the top of the top hat almost black. Behind him the space falls away entirely, a dark umber and near-black field carrying only a suggestion of antique brocade wallpaper and a dust-heavy gilt frame edge, out of focus and corrupted by the fisheye. The palette stays in ember red, tarnished gold, oxblood and charcoal, with the one unpaired eye acting as the second colour accent. Every surface is old: worn silk, tarnished metal, leather gone soft with use. Antique, quietly sinister.
