The camera looks up from below and slightly ahead of her, so the whole of her small figure hangs against open sky. She hangs in midair a metre above a sunlit meadow of tall grass that curves away below her, knees drawn up and tucked back, one leg bent more tightly than the other, both arms flung wide for balance, hands open and fingers spread, body tipped forward as though the air itself is carrying her. Her short brown hair lifts and streams back off her temples, and her two dog ears flick back with the rush. A thick tanuki tail — brown with dark banded rings and a blunt pale tip — bursts out from beneath the hem of her skirt at the small of her back and swings in a fast blurred arc, the striped length whipping left then right so hard that motion streaks trail it. That same wag has thrown the pleated skirt up and back, the hem flipped clear, so her white panties are fully visible beneath the lifted fabric, and the skirt's pleats fan outward in the updraft. Her tail is rooted under the skirt at the base of her spine and every swing of it flips the hem higher. A Super Leaf — broad, veined, a warm ochre-brown with a curling stem — rides on the crown of her head, its edge quivering from the speed; a second leaf spins free in the air behind her heel. Light comes from high and behind, so the sun rims the top of her head, the leaf and the upper edges of her spread arms in gold while her face and the front of her body sit in soft bounced light from the pale grass below; her shadow races across the field far beneath her, small and sharp. Palette: warm sky blue, sunlit green and dry-grass gold, her brown hair and banded tail, the leaf's ochre, and the single white of the panties as the brightest shape in the frame. Her head is tipped down, eyes wide and bright with delight fixed on the ground rushing past beneath her feet, mouth open in a full laughing grin, one brow cocked. Effortlessly joyful.
