Light comes from a single hard source low and in front, angled slightly up, so it strikes the undersides of his chin, jaw and brow and leaves the top of his skull and the sides of his face dropping into shadow; beyond him there is nothing but a solid black field, absolute darkness with no floor, no wall, no horizon, and no cast shadows because there is no surface to catch them. The glowing lenses are the only other light in the frame, and they do not illuminate the black around him.
Palette is restricted to black, the sickly green of the lens glow, warm ruddy skin tones in the lit planes, and the dull yellow of teeth, nothing else admitted. Detail budget sits on the face: skin texture, creases, the frames' thickness, the glint and the wet mouth. Sinister and gleeful.
