1982年（昭和57年）のこの日、アメリカのSF映画『E.T.』（イーティー）が日本で公開された。 監督・製作はスティーヴン・スピルバーグ（Steven Spielberg）。約1000万ドルという予算で製作されたが、観客は1000万人を突破し、アメリカ国内だけでおよそ3億ドルという当時の映画史上、最大の興行収入を記録した。
