The light is diffuse and overcast-bright through the glass, no hard sun anywhere, the wellspring and the far wall softly modeled by that even wash while the corners and the ceiling vaults sink into quiet shadow; the only specular highlights in the frame are on the moving water and the wet stone lip of the spring. The palette is disciplined and cool — slate blue, teal, sea-green, pale cyan, damp grey stone, moss green, and a muted near-white in the brightest mosaic tiles, nothing warm admitted anywhere. The aesthetic stays simple and uncluttered: one pool, one spring, plant-eaten walls, glass windows, no ornament, no clutter, no figures. Everything is in sharp focus from the near stone lip to the far window tracery, the mosaic tiles individually legible, the fern fronds crisp, the rings on the water resolved as distinct lines.
