Story chapter 25: Alone In The Cell
Haruka slowly looked around her new surroundings. The cell was small and bleak. Stone walls surrounded her on every side, while an iron-barred window high along one wall allowed a narrow beam of daylight to enter. Against the opposite wall stood a simple wooden bench. In the corner was a plain wooden bucket. Haruka stared at it for several seconds before realizing what it was for. “…You have got to be kidding me.” She sighed and looked away. Her hands were still secured behind her back, making even standing comfortably difficult. She shifted her shoulders, instinctively trying to find a more comfortable position. “I really am a prisoner…” She looked toward the barred window. Beyond it, she could see only a small portion of the dungeon courtyard. No familiar buildings. No familiar streets. Nothing that reminded her of home. Haruka slowly walked toward the wooden bench. With her hands still restrained behind her, she carefully turned around and lowered herself onto it. The old wood creaked beneath her weight. She sat quietly, staring at the stone floor. For the first time since arriving in this strange world, there was nothing she could do except wait. Haruka lowered her head. “…I just want to go home.” The dungeon fell silent around her. And the chapter ends.
