1girl, solo, muscular, muscular female, butch, short hair, undercut, dark brown hair, thick neck, broad shoulders, biceps, triceps, forearm veins, hairy armpits, armpit hair visible, raised arm, one arm raised, white ribbed tank top, tight tank top, sweat-damp fabric, olive drab military trousers, cargo pants, side pockets, belt, bare feet, sitting, sitting on crate, spread legs, legs apart, leaning forward, looking at viewer, looking down, head tilted down, smug grin, lopsided smile, half-closed eyes, raised eyebrow, holding chain, iron chain, chain wrapped around fist, chain extending toward viewer, foreshortening, pov, from below, low angle, extreme foreshortening, close-up on chain, wooden crate, concrete floor, dim garage, single overhead light, warm tungsten key light, deep shadow The camera sits low, near floor level, tilted up: the viewer's point of view is a body on the ground, and she is perched on a rough wooden crate above it, thighs spread wide with the inner seams of the olive-drab cargo trousers stretched taut over her quads, both bootless feet planted flat on the concrete at the lower corners of the frame so the knees frame the shot. Her left arm is flung up and back, palm braced on the crate's far edge behind her hip, and that lifted shoulder is what bares the armpit -- a dense dark tuft of hair there, the ribbed white cotton of the tank top pulled into a deep armhole gap, the fabric dark with a crescent of sweat at the sternum. Her right arm comes down and forward, elbow on her knee, and her fist closes around a heavy iron chain: the links pass through her grip and run out of her hand toward the lens, swelling huge in the foreground, the nearest link half out of frame at the bottom edge, so the chain visibly terminates at the viewer's own body. The rest of it coils slack across the crate beside her thigh, each link catching a specular highlight. She leans forward over her knees so the low angle sees up under her jaw, the corded neck, the collarbones, and the tank top straining across her chest; her chin tips down and her eyes come straight down the chain into the lens, half-lidded, one brow cocked higher than the other, the corner of her mouth pulled up in a lopsided smirk that shows one canine. Short dark hair, cropped close at the sides and shoved back from her forehead, a few strands stuck to her temple. Weight rides forward on the balls of her feet and the heels of her hands, the crate taking the rest. One light source: a single caged bulb directly above and slightly behind her, throwing warm tungsten down the planes of her shoulders and forearms, rimming the top of her hair, glinting flat along the top faces of the chain links while the undersides of the links and the space under the crate go black; her cast shadow drops forward over the viewer's ground, and the darkness beyond the bulb's cone is absolute. Palette held to olive drab, off-white, warm tungsten amber, and the cold grey of the iron, with her skin in warm mid-brown. Texture: ribbed cotton, ripstop weave, pitted iron, gritty concrete. Intimate and quietly dangerous.
