Prostration, widely known as "orz" or "失意体前屈" (shitsui tai zenkutsu), is a popular internet meme and character pose originating from early Japanese web culture. This theme highlights comedic despair, featuring elements like characters kneeling on all fours, bowed heads touching the ground, gloomy expressions, and dramatic shadow effects. It is frequently used in anime fan art to humorously depict crushing disappointment or humorous failure.

character: tokugawa_ieyasu_(real_life) 1man, elderly man, 60s (age), wrinkles, shaved forehead, topknot, chonmage, thin mustache, short gray beard, facial hair, kamishimo, dark brown clothing, wide shoulders, pleated hakama, traditional Japanese clothing, kneeling, on knees, dogeza, prostration, head bowed, slumped shoulders, hands on floor, utter despair, flying sweat drops, dramatic comedic scene, closed wooden door, toilet door, wooden sign, hanging sign, kanji, traditional Japanese castle, wooden corridor, floorboards, lantern light, light from under door, deep shadows, warm lighting, medium shot, from below, low angle, ukiyo-e style, woodblock print aesthetic, soft brush strokes, muted Edo-period palette A medium shot captured from a slightly low angle along the polished wooden corridor floor of a traditional Japanese castle. Kneeling on both knees directly in front of a closed wooden door is an elderly Japanese man in his sixties, his posture collapsed in theatrical despair. His head is bowed deeply with his forehead hovering just above the floorboards, his shoulders heavily slumped, and both hands pressed flat against the wood with splayed fingers bearing his trembling weight. He has a shaved forehead, greying hair pulled into a neat traditional topknot, a thin grey mustache, and a trimmed short grey beard; exaggerated, comic droplets of sweat fly outward from his furrowed temples into the air. He wears an elegant Edo-period dark brown kamishimo, its stiff wing-like shoulder boards flaring out sharply over his hunched back, with matching pleated hakama draped over his tucked legs. Immediately ahead of him stands the weathered cedar sliding door of a traditional Japanese toilet; suspended by a cord from the door handle hangs a rectangular wooden sign inscribed with the bold black text "使用中". A sharp, intense slit of warm golden lantern light beams out from the narrow horizontal gap beneath the bottom of the closed door, casting a bright streak across the dark corridor planks, catching the edges of his pressed knuckles, and throwing elongated, heavy shadows behind his prostrated figure into the dim hallway. The rendering follows traditional Japanese woodblock print aesthetics with soft painterly brushwork, delicate ink linework, and a muted, desaturated Edo-period color palette of rich browns, deep cedar, and warm lantern amber. Comedic despair.
