1girl, solo, nishizumi miho, short hair, auburn hair, brown eyes, medium breasts, white lace lingerie, translucent lingerie, wet lace clinging, uneasy, worried, nervous expression, struggling, sinking, partially submerged, chest-deep in quicksand, dark grey mud, dark grey clay, flat ground, squish lines, squish details, squishy quicksand, woodland, conifers, forest, wilderness, nature, from above, looking up, outstretched arm, parted lips, sweat on skin, depth of field, highres
Shot from above and slightly in front, the camera looks down the length of a flat forest floor where she stands sunk to the sternum in a pit of dark grey clay, so the whole bowl of churned muck reads as one grey shape against the moss. One girl, alone: short auburn hair cut close at the jaw, plastered to her forehead and cheeks in damp strands, brown eyes wide and turned up toward the lens with the whites showing, brows drawn high and knit at the inner corners, mouth open on a strained breath, a sheen of sweat across her temple. Her white lace lingerie is translucent where the wet clay has soaked up through it -- the woven lace pattern and the strap over her shoulder pressed flat against her skin, grey sludge smeared along the hem of the cups and the band at her ribs; the lace itself is the garment, the pattern visible through the soaked fabric. Below the collarbones she is swallowed: the mud surface cuts her across the chest, her arms held out level and half-buried to the forearms, elbows bent, fingers splayed and dug into the grey, palms braced and pressing down as she tries to lever herself up -- the effort makes her shoulders hitch and her chin lift. Around her body the surface is pressured into soft concentric ridges and knuckle-shaped lumps where she has pushed, thick collars of clay curling up against her sides, thin wet seams of grey running back from her armpits where the mass is pulling her down; a trailing smear of sludge on the flat ground behind her marks where she has already been dragged a hand's width. The clay is dark slate grey, glossy only on the upward-facing ridges, matt and dull in the hollows, and it bulges slowly around her ribs; that slow collapse of the rim is the only movement. The ground is otherwise dead flat -- no slope, no mound -- a floor of pine needles and sphagnum that extends to a wall of tall conifers, their trunks dark brown and bare to head height and their crowns packed so tightly that the forest goes from deep green to near black in three layers of depth, a few shafts of pale afternoon light slanting down between the trunks and catching the far mud ridges in a dull sheen while her own shadow falls onto the ground behind her, away from the camera. Everything not touched by those shafts sits in cool green shade. Colours held to dark grey, wet white, auburn and forest green. Quiet dread.
