I wanted to explore impasto through strong color, movement, and visible brushwork. The sunset becomes almost as important as Werma herself, with thick strokes of orange, crimson, violet, and blue flowing through the sky and continuing into her hair and clothing. I tried to keep her face relatively clean while allowing the rest of the scene to feel much more heavily painted. It was a really fun experiment in making the brushstrokes part of the atmosphere rather than simply applying an oil-paint filter over the image. 🎨✨
