Just as Glorya seemed on the verge of succumbing to despair, a mysterious woman appeared suddenly before her—someone Glorya quickly identified as a nun by her habit. The woman was young and tall; though she appeared to be blind, she possessed an uncanny sense of direction, pinpointing Glorya’s location with ease and positioning herself directly in front of her. To Glorya, the nun seemed radiant—pure, in a way—so much so that Glorya could not even meet her gaze and tried to look away. The young woman spoke to her, however, her voice melodic; she said that while she did not know the specific hardships Glorya was facing, she urged her not to give in to a sense of doom, but to remain steadfast in her beliefs—whatever they might be—when taking action. At this, Glorya seemed to calm down gradually. Recalling her past youthful joy and the devotion she had largely abandoned after witnessing demons act with impunity, she said, with a touch of weariness, that her situation was difficult to resolve—at least by mortal hands. The young nun seemed to smile with growing joy and offered Glorya a hand to help her up. Glorya accepted, and the nun told her that if it seemed nothing and no one could resolve her plight, she must place even greater trust in that which transcends the mortal realm. Confused yet surprisingly relieved, Glorya offered a faint smile and prepared to return to her safehouse; just as she turned her back on the nun, she heard that melodic voice right in her ear, telling her not to waver—even in the face of the direst circumstances or the hardest decisions—for "she" would be by her side. Spinning around suddenly, Glorya found herself alone in the alley.
