研究や技術を、社会に実装してゆく取り組みは、様々な企業や団体で進められています。 コンテストテーマを見て、そういえば、通勤に使う東京駅で、車椅子をご利用されている方をお見掛けするのですが、少し離れた場所にスロープがあり、通勤時間帯だと、ものすごく移動に不便そうにされていたことを思いだしました。 また、1人で移動可能な車いすもありますが、安全対策としては、まだまだ課題があるようにも感じました。 インターネットをなにげく、みていたところ、湘南工科大学の工学部が、遠隔操作可能な車いすの開発をされているとのことでしたので、それをテーマにしました。 通信用アンテナ・バッテリー・カメラ・操作レバーを装備させています。 本当は、画面を2コマに分けて、研究室から操作する者も描写したかったのですが、2コマに分けると、車いす全体の描写が困難だったので、そちらはコンテストには出さず、車いす全体が写る1コマのみとしました。 remotely operated wheelchair. When I saw the contest theme, I recalled seeing wheelchair users at Tokyo Station during my commute; I remembered how inconvenient it seemed for them to get around, as the ramps were located some distance away—especially during rush hour. While there are wheelchairs that allow for independent mobility, I also felt there were still challenges regarding safety measures. While casually browsing the internet, I learned that the Faculty of Engineering at Shonan Institute of Technology was developing a remotely operated wheelchair, so I chose that as my subject. It is equipped with a communication antenna, a battery, a camera, and a control lever. I had originally wanted to split the image into two panels to depict the person operating it from the laboratory; however, doing so made it difficult to show the entire wheelchair. Consequently, I decided not to submit that version to the contest and instead opted for a single panel showing the whole wheelchair.
