Morning 2.1: CH 3 THE BREAKFAST EVASION STRAT
📖 MORNING 2.1: Roscaelifer Excursion CHAPTER 3: THE BREAKFAST EVASION STRAT Wise: "Did you hear that? It sounded like someone just tried to kick down the reinforced steel bulkhead doors." Wise stood at the threshold of his room, his brow furrowed as the echo of a massive metallic thud vibrated through the structure of the Amber Hall bunker. From across the hallway, Belle opened her door at the exact same moment. Her hair was slightly messy from their early morning navigation tracking routines. Belle: "Yeah, I heard it! It felt like a small Ethereal earthquake! Let's check the ground floor!" The two Phaethon Proxies hurried straight down the stairs, their footsteps drumming against the metal panels. The moment they rounded the corner into the main lobby, they froze. Starlight-Billy Kid was leaning heavily against the structural pillars. His 6'5" mechanical cyborg chassis was trembling so violently that his twin high-caliber custom revolvers were rattling loudly in their holsters. Cartoon sweat drops were practically jetting out of his metallic skull seams. Belle: "Are you alright, Billy? You look like you just watched your favorite Starlight Knight action figures get crushed by a construction vehicle!" Billy Kid: "I'm completely fine! Ha... Hahaha! I am completely fine, Manager! I just realized... uh... I forgot something highly critical back on the other side of town! Yeah! A total classic Billy brain-fart, hohoho!" Wise leaned forward, narrowing his eyes as he analyzed the cyborg's hyper-erratic optical tracking loops. Wise: "You're keeping something from us, Billy. You don't shake like a malfunctioning washing machine over a simple forgotten item." Billy Kid: "No, no, no! It's completely fine, everything is green across the board!" Billy Kid (thinking): Oh dear Lord, that was absolutely no database mistake! That was really him on the bench! How is that legendary man still walking around New Eridu after thirty years?! But I can't tell Belle and Wise! If I drop the truth that the Second-Generation Void Hunter is sitting right outside, they'll completely freak out! And worse... that little round bouncer with him is Vantablack! Oh my god! If those two Proxies walk face-first into Vantablack and call him a 'cute little robot bot,' he'll pull something terrifying out of his sleeve! He'll activate the Nightmare Zone and structurally torture all of us for the trial challenge! I need to lock this secret down tightly! Before Wise could press for more data, the automated sliding doors hissed open. Cissia walked into the lobby with an eccentric, relaxed stride. Her blonde side-ponytail bobbed dynamically, and her pet snake, Chalky, rested comfortably across her shoulders. Her thick, white-scaled snake tail swayed smoothly behind her ruffled mini-skirt, its mechanical pink stinger tip clicking softly against the floor tiles. Cissia: "Oh, hey you two~ Just letting you know, my senses caught a trace of our little tracker. I located Eous out by the local boardwalk! He found a brand-new egg-shaped robot friend in a leather biker jacket, and they're rolling around playing games together." Belle: "Oh, that's great to hear! Eous was so lonely this morning. Come on, Wise, we better go meet them right away!" Billy Kid (thinking): Oh no, no, no! They better not march straight toward that park bench! They don't know what Reaper 800 looks like because he keeps his face perfectly hidden from the public registry, but I know those structural metrics by heart! If they walk into Vantablack while Reaper is sipping soda, we are stepping right into a tactical minefield! Think, Billy, think! Use your tactical configurations! Billy Kid: "Wait! Are you absolutely sure we should rush out there on empty stomachs, Manager? I mean... a top-tier Proxy operation requires maximum glucose deployment! Maybe we should have some delicious civilian Earth-style breakfast first before we go?" Wise paused, tapping his chin as his logical code kicked back in. Wise: "Good point, Billy. Running tactical telemetry on an empty stomach is highly inefficient. We'd better have breakfast first inside the hall, and then we'll head over to the theme park." Billy let out a massive, hidden mechanical sigh of relief as his system temperatures finally dropped back to a safe baseline, successfully stalling the ultimate crossover collision for one more hour.
