The view is a high three-quarter shot from above, close on a single small creature that is a living teapot: a rounded glazed ceramic pot body standing on stubby little feet on a scrubbed wooden table, its surface a glossy brown glaze like chestnut with a deep red lower band and a fine blue stripe circling the belly, fired and hard, catching a small hard highlight on the shoulder of the pot. Out of the top of the pot, instead of a lid, rises her head: a non-human face, brown hair in her signature pair of long twintails hanging down past the pot's flank and swinging just clear of the table, a single ahoge curling up from the crown, her usual hair ornament pinned at one side, and red eyes wide and soft. A non-human physique runs through the whole body — the pot's handle loops out on her left, the spout curves forward on her right, and thin steam curls from the spout's mouth in a lazy thread that drifts toward the camera and thins as it rises. No human skin shows anywhere; the blush is ceramic too, a hot pink flush bloomed into the cheeks of her face and a matching warmer patch glowing faintly through the glaze on the pot's belly, as though something inside were lit. She tilts her face up toward the lens, eyes meeting the viewer, mouth small and embarrassed, weight settled on both stubby feet with the pot tipped slightly back to look up; the twintails hang dead still except for their very tips, nudged by the steam. The only light is a low warm windowlight from the front-left; it lays a long soft shadow of the pot and a thin shadow of the spout across the table to the right, and the glossy glaze breaks it into one crisp highlight on the left cheek of the pot while the right side of the body sits in soft brown shadow. Palette is confined to chestnut brown, deep red, the blue stripe, and the table's pale wood grain, with pink only in the blush. Warm, shy, tender.
