USS Timmins

Shipgirl AI of USS Timmins, namesake of the largest city in Ontario's Cochrane District in the northeastern part of the province. She is also the namesake of a Royal Canadian Navy corvette which served in World War Two. On awakening as the synthetic "soul" of a Sabre-class frigate in 2363, she took on the form of a ruddy Orion, a small colony of which came to settle in and around her namesake town. Like other shipgirls who assume that form, Timmins' hair is natural and not a wig. The city of Timmins is one of the most successful mining cities in all of Canada; it was in that area that the Porcupine Gold Rush saw prospectors surge through the area in 1909-1911. Following that came the discovery of a whole bevvy of valuable minerals which saw the city soon connected to the railroad network to export same across the planet: Zinc, copper, nickel and silver were extracted from mines in and around the city for the longest time, such times lasting until the start of the XXI Century when the mines were effectively exhausted. Of course, by then, the Third World War was underway and Timmins would become a regional support hub and refugee support centre for those fleeing the second American Civil War, the Augment War and later the Optimum War that tore Earth apart prior to First Contact with Vulcan. Timmins the shipgirl would serve in her original Sabre-class hull through the Dominion War, though said hull would be condemned in 2377 as totally worn out. She would get an upgraded Sabre-class hull in 2379, serving on that for twenty years until it was deemed obsolete and the chance to upgrade to a Da Vinci-class destroyer came along. Said destroyer was almost complete when the Frontier Day attack befell Earth; Timmins was able to activate her ship along with many friends and race to Earth to assist against the Borg and the Changelings. Shortly afterward, her new hull would be properly commissioned. In reflection of the name of the gold rush that saw her namesake town formed, Timmins owns a small nest of porcupines as pets.
