Those summer days replay vividly in his mind as she stares at the promotional poster for that convenience store. She can almost feel the warmth of the sun on her exoskeleton and the sweetness of the ice cream in her mouth... but a tremor causes a can to fall from a nearby shelf, and the illusion shatters. She's not in those summer days; she's here, now, in the coldness of an abandoned store in the middle of a war zone.
