Story chapter 24: The Cell
The dungeon corridor finally came to an end. Haruka stopped when the knight opened the door to a small stone cell. She stared inside nervously before glancing back at the knight. “Th-That's my cell?” “For now,” the knight replied. Haruka hesitated before stepping inside, her hands still secured behind her back. “Wait…” The knight paused. “Could you at least remove these?” Haruka asked, glancing anxiously over her shoulder toward the restraints. “My hands have been cuffed behind my back this entire time.” “I cannot.” Haruka's eyes widened. “You're refusing?” “Yes. Until your identity and circumstances have been investigated, the restraints remain.” “But I'm not dangerous!” “That may be so, but I cannot take that chance.” Haruka frowned helplessly. “Please. They're uncomfortable, and I can't even adjust my clothes properly.” “I understand, but the answer remains no.” Haruka lowered her head. “So I'm supposed to stay in there like this?” “For the moment.” She took a reluctant step into the cell. “Please don't forget that I'm telling the truth…” “We will hear your explanation.” The knight closed the cell door. Haruka stood quietly behind the bars, her hands still restrained behind her back. She stared at the lock with growing unease. “…This is really happening.” The heavy door clicked shut. Haruka swallowed nervously as the knight walked away, leaving her alone in the cell.
