💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 Comfort in Companionship The glass door of the pet supplies store slowly opened in front of the two of them. The bell on the door rang with a crisp sound.Luka, who had been quietly resting in Gakupo’s arms, immediately perked up her ears when she heard the sound. She looked first at the entrance, then inside the store.Unlike the street, the smells inside were more complex. There was the scent of food, of wood and fabric, and many unfamiliar odors she couldn’t name.Gakupo carried her inside.“We’re here.”Luka didn’t respond, only widened her eyes to look around.Rows of shelves stretched out, filled with all sorts of items. She saw one shelf stacked with cans and lingered for a while, then her attention was caught by the small toys hanging nearby. One of the little balls swayed gently.Luka’s gaze immediately followed it.Gakupo noticed her reaction and glanced down.“Interested in this one?”Luka’s ears leaned forward. She didn’t meow, only stared at the ball.Gakupo followed her gaze and reached for one.“This one?”He held the ball in front of her.Luka lowered her head to sniff it.No particular smell. She lightly touched it with her nose. The ball wobbled.Luka instantly pulled back a little, though her eyes stayed fixed on it.Gakupo couldn’t help but laugh.“Startled?”Luka looked up at him as if glaring.“Meow.”His smile deepened.“Alright, I won’t laugh at you.”He took the ball back into his hand and placed it before her again. This time Luka didn’t retreat. She stretched out a paw and carefully tapped it.The ball swayed again. Her eyes followed its movement.Gakupo watched her without rushing, letting her get used to it at her own pace.“Looks like this can go in the shopping bag.”Luka glanced up at him.She didn’t understand what he meant. But she seemed to realize that whenever she reacted to something, Gakupo would take it seriously. They continued walking deeper inside.Gakupo looked over the shelves while speaking softly to her.“Let’s check the food first.”He walked to the food section, scanning the rows of products.Luka’s nose twitched. From one direction came a familiar scent. She immediately turned her head.Gakupo followed her gaze.“Fish?”Her ears shot up.“Meow.”“So you remember.”He picked up one of the packages, not deciding right away but examining the contents carefully.Luka leaned forward, wanting to get closer. He moved the item slightly toward her.“This one?”She sniffed it, then turned to the side.He tried another.“Or this one?”She sniffed again, then looked at him.“Meow.”Not entirely sure which she was choosing, he chuckled.“Looks like we’ll have to try them at home.”He placed several suitable foods into the basket.Luka watched his actions. She didn’t know where these things would end up, but seeing him keep picking things for her gave her a strange feeling. As if all of it was prepared just for her.Gakupo then moved to the supplies section. He saw drinking containers of different sizes and paused to choose.“This height should suit you better.”Luka looked down at it.She reached out a paw to touch the rim.He quickly steadied it.“Careful.”She looked up at him.“Meow.”“Mm, take your time.”On the other side, Luka suddenly noticed a feather toy hanging from the shelf. Her gaze was instantly drawn to it.It swayed slightly in the air.Her ears turned toward it, her eyes locked.Gakupo walked a few steps before realizing she wasn’t looking ahead anymore. He stopped.“Found something again?”She didn’t look at him.He followed her gaze.“This one?”He reached for the toy.She finally turned her head.“Meow.”He gave the toy a little shake. Her eyes immediately followed.“Seems you really like it.”He smiled and placed it in the basket.“Then we’ll buy it too.”Luka watched him.She didn’t know what “buy” meant. But seeing the toy go into the basket gave her another strange feeling. This human seemed to always notice her. When she looked, he stopped. When she approached, he waited. When she made a sound, he listened.Luka quietly gazed at Gakupo. He was busy checking another item, unaware of her stare. After a while, Luka softly meowed.“Meow.”Gakupo looked up.“Hmm?”She only looked at him.He met her eyes for a moment, then smiled gently, as if it was already natural.“What is it?”She didn’t meow again.Instead, she slowly leaned her head against his arm, continuing to watch the store. He didn’t ask further. He held her and kept picking supplies. And Luka realized for the first time that following a human into an unfamiliar place didn’t always mean being afraid.Because whenever she looked up, that person was always there.
