A wide horizontal composition viewed straight-on at eye level, staging a young woman and a young man seated at opposite ends of an impossibly long, seamless wooden bench, separated by a vast expanse of negative space. The setting is an austere, minimalist interior whose floor dissolves into a tranquil, centimeter-deep sheet of mirror-still water. On the left end of the bench, the young woman sits with her shoulders slightly hunched inward; her dark chin-length hair falls forward across her profile, partially shadowing her face as her lowered eyelids direct her gaze down toward her lap. She wears an oversized cream knit sweater with cuffs swallowing her hands, which rest loosely over her dark pleated skirt, while her bare feet lightly touch the water's surface without breaking its stillness. On the far right end, the young man sits turned three-quarters away toward the right border of the frame, clad in a loose white button-down shirt with rolled forearms and dark trousers. He props his cheek against his right knuckle with his elbow planted on his knee, his gaze fixed straight out into the void beyond the frame. A massive, mullionless glass wall stands directly behind them, admitting diffuse, desaturated twilight from a pale overcast sky. This backlighting outlines the edges of their shoulders and hair with a subtle silver rim, while casting elongated, dark upside-down reflections of both figures across the glassy floor. On the water surface between their distant positions, two detached white flower petals drift slowly away from one another, parting along invisible currents without disturbing the mirror plane. The color scheme is disciplined into slate grays, cool whites, muted taupe, and pale porcelain skin, rendered with hair-thin contour lines and translucent, painterly digital washes. Poetic melancholy.
