Kamui Gakupo and Megurine Luka followed a winding stone path, fascinated by the unfamiliar yet beautiful scenery. “Gakupo, can you smell that? It smells wonderful!” Luka stopped and took a deep breath. “It's coffee,” Gakupo replied with a smile. Just then, a young Ethiopian woman wearing a traditional white dress approached from beside a house. She had dark skin, braided black hair, and gentle brown eyes. Colorful embroidery on her dress shone in the sunlight. “Welcome to our village!” she greeted them in English. “My name is Ameles. I'm preparing a coffee ceremony today.” “A coffee ceremony?” Luka asked curiously. Ameles nodded. “To us, coffee is more than a drink. It's an important part of welcoming guests, sharing time, and strengthening relationships.” She warmly invited them into her home. Fresh grass covered the floor, and the room held a delicate scent of incense. She also invited them to taste injera, the local flatbread, served with flavorful stews. Luka struggled slightly as she tried to scoop up food using the injera. “Oh! But as they prepared to return to the village, the sky suddenly darkened. A strong wind lifted clouds of dust. Somewhere in the distance, a child cried out anxiously. “Oh no! My lamb ran up the hillside!” Ameles immediately hurried toward the voice. A small lamb had become trapped beside a steep rocky slope, with loose stones sliding beneath its feet. Gakupo studied the terrain and realized that climbing straight toward it might trigger more falling rocks. “Luka, try to calm it down. I'll approach from the other side.” Luka knelt and began humming a gentle melody. Gradually, the frightened lamb stopped struggling. Meanwhile, Ameles brought a long rope used by the villagers and helped Gakupo secure it to a stable rock. A few minutes later, Gakupo carefully carried the lamb back to safety. The child rushed forward, cheering, and embraced the recovered animal. “Thank you!” Ameles looked gratefully at the two travelers. “Today, you're not merely our guests. You're friends of our village.” As night fell, a warm bonfire illuminated the village square. People danced to drums and singing. Wearing her festive clothes, Ameles invited Luka to join them. Luka took Gakupo's hand. “Come on! Tonight, let's share our music with everyone!” Gakupo smiled, took out his instrument, and joined the villagers' lively rhythm. Their music traveled across the cool highland night toward the distant mountains. After the gathering, Ameles served coffee once more.
