(Japanese steam locomotive D51:1.3), black steam locomotive, 2-8-2 wheel arrangement, large driving wheels, side rods and coupling rods, chimney with white steam, boiler, headlamp, numberplate, vintage brown passenger cars, passenger train, autumn mountains, vibrant red and orange foliage, autumn leaves, railroad track, curved rails, ballast and sleepers, billowing white steam and smoke, beautiful autumn sunlight, backlit steam, dynamic angle, side view, no humans, realistic, highly detailed A low, dynamic side view taken from track level, the camera tilted a few degrees so the rails climb diagonally from the lower left towards the right, the black steam locomotive charging in from the left in three-quarter side profile with its nose cut just short of the right edge and its trailing vintage brown passenger cars strung back along the curve behind it. The engine's driving wheels bite the near rail, side rods caught mid-stroke, the leading bogie turning into the bend, the long boiler and chimney raked forward with its own momentum; the brown carriages lean slightly into the curve behind it, their couplings taut, windows dark under the roof line, the last car sliding off behind a bank of foliage. The locomotive's chimney throws a thick billowing column of white steam and smoke up and back to the upper right, the plume breaking apart into ragged tufts that drift across the mountainside and catch the light, while a thinner veil of steam escapes low along the cylinders and clings against the ballast; the steam is brightest where the sun strikes it and grey-blue in its own shadow, and the engine casts a hard shadow down the embankment towards the camera. Autumn sunlight comes from high behind the train's right, backlighting the smoke so its edges glow and rimming the locomotive's black boiler, cab roof and carriage roofs with a thin warm highlight; the near flank of the engine falls into deep cool shadow, and the rails throw a wet gleam along their polished tops. The trackside is a dense slope of vibrant red and orange foliage — maples, beech and larch in saturated crimson, scarlet and amber — rising into autumn mountains that stack in three receding ridges, the nearest leaves sharp and individually drawn, the farthest dissolving into a hazy violet-red mass; loose autumn leaves tumble across the frame in the slipstream, a few plastered against the locomotive's smokebox and swirling into the steam. Palette: black iron, warm brass and rust, deep chocolate-brown carriages, crimson-orange foliage, pale gold light, cool blue in the shadows. Everything not named stays out of frame — no people, no station, no text. Majestic, exhilarating.
