vehicle focus, no humans, outdoors, day, black steam locomotive, JNR Class D51, 2-8-2 wheel arrangement, side view, three-quarter view from below, low camera, single tender locomotive, black boiler, black smokebox, chimney, steam dome, sand dome, driving wheels, coupling rods, trailing truck, tender, running on rails, moving down the tracks, traveling, steam and smoke trailing, lush green hillside, grassy embankment, electric poles, electric cables, utility poles and overhead wires, buildings, houses, trees, plants, shrubs, railing in background, mountain, distant ridge, blue sky, daylight, hard cast shadow, wheel, photo background, sharp focus, high detail, dramatic sky, summer afternoon The camera sits low beside the line, three-quarter front from below, so the black locomotive fills the left two-thirds of the frame and towers into the upper sky; its smokebox door, chimney and the leading driving wheels nearest the lens are the largest forms, and the boiler recedes away from the viewer toward the rear of the train, coupling rods flashing along the wheel faces. The engine is a single black steam locomotive running left to right down steel rails that enter at the right edge and pass under the frame; the D51's long boiler, feed-water heater and twin-axle trailing truck read clearly in black against the bright green. Behind and above the running board a tender follows on the same rails, its coal load dark and rounded. Smoke and steam pour from the chimney toward the upper right, thinning as it climbs. To the right of the tracks a lush green hillside rises, dense with grass, shrubs and small trees; the slope catches the sun on its upper faces and drops into a darker green shadow in the folds. Electric poles march along the embankment in a receding line, each with its crossarm and a web of black electric cables sagging between them, the wires crossing the pale sky and the far slope. Buildings cluster behind the poles -- low Japanese houses with tiled roofs, some white walls, some dark timber -- partly screened by trees and planting. In the near background a metal railing runs horizontally along a low retaining edge, its vertical bars patterned and its top rail catching a thin bright edge of light. Beyond everything a mountain ridge closes the horizon, hazy blue-green, softened by distance. A single road vehicle is visible small in the midground beside the buildings, a pale boxy van or truck parked near the railing, kept minor but clearly a vehicle; its wheel and dark underbody shadow are legible where it stands. The nearest driving wheel of the locomotive is huge in the foreground, its spokes and counterweight sharply drawn. Sunlight comes from the upper left, hard and warm, striking the left faces of the boiler, the chimney, the green hillside and the pole shafts; the locomotive throws a long hard shadow across the ballast and onto the rails to the lower right, and its dark underside is nearly black. The sky is clean summer blue with only the steam smudging it. Palette: deep blacks and greys of the engine against saturated summer green, pale grey ballast, the blue of sky and ridge, small warm accents of the white-walled buildings. Fine photo-real texture on soot-black metal, dusty ballast stones, sunlit grass. A clean, sunlit, quietly powerful afternoon.
