character: saotome_ranma, shampoo_(ranma_1/2) 2girls, saotome_ranma, shampoo_(ranma_1/2), long hair, black hair, hair down, wet hair, rain, heavy rain, soaking wet, wet clothes, sleeveless, bare shoulders, chinese clothes, purple hair, double bun, hair ornament, hair bell, sidelocks, red eyes, holding umbrella, umbrella over another, sharing umbrella, standing under umbrella, looking at another, smile, happy, open mouth, from side, cowboy shot, night, street, storefront, wall, sheltering, raindrops, puddle, reflections, warm lantern light, cool blue night, wet skin, water droplets The shot is a side-on medium cowboy view at night on a narrow Chinese street, the camera low enough that the storefront awning runs as a diagonal band across the top of the frame. On the right of frame, Ranma stands backed against the plastered shop wall just under the awning's edge, shoulder blades to the wall, one heel hooked on the low stone step, weight on his left leg; his hair hangs loose and black, flattened to his neck and temples by the downpour, strands pasted across one cheek, and his sleeveless top clings dark and heavy to his shoulders and chest with the rain still beading and running on his bare arms and collarbone. He has turned his head sharply to the left, chin lifted, and he is grinning wide and open-mouthed straight at the woman coming toward him, eyes bright, brows raised -- the whole face lit up at the sight of her. From the left of frame, Shampoo steps in along the wet flagstones with her weight forward on her front foot, both hands wrapped around the umbrella shaft at chest height, her purple hair in its double bun with the bell and ornament swinging as she moves, sidelocks stuck to her jaw by the damp, and her red eyes fixed on Ranma with a small pleased curve to her mouth as she reads his expression. The umbrella's black canopy is tilted so it reaches across the gap between them and covers Ranma's head and shoulders while she herself stands half out in the rain, drops striking the taut fabric and spattering off its rim; a fine curtain of runoff falls from the near edge of the canopy between the two of them. The umbrella is the only thing keeping him dry, so his soaked clothes and the dry patch of wall behind his shoulders read as one fact. Above and behind them the street is a receding row of closed shutters, hanging cloth signs and a single paper lantern; the lantern is the only warm source, throwing an orange pool across the flagstones and up the wet wall so the rain streaks catch gold near the pair and turn cold blue only a few steps away, and below them the puddles hold their two dark, broken reflections. Palette: deep indigo night, wet grey stone, the lantern's amber, and Shampoo's violet and red as the only saturated notes. Rain-soaked, tender.
