Eureka and Renton: Soaring Through the Blue Sky

There's something truly magical about the bond between Eureka and Renton, and this scene captures that sense of wonder perfectly. I've always been moved by their journey together, flying hand-in-hand through the clouds. If this piece brings a smile to your face, please leave a like and follow for more art! character: renton_thurston, eureka_(eureka_seven), copyright: eureka_seven, eureka_seven_(series) 2girls and 1boy, 2 characters, eureka, renton thurston, short hair, green hair, purple eyes, butterfly wings on back, butterfly wings sprouting from her back, blue two-tone dress, long sleeves, white dress panels, flying, holding hands, looking at viewer, boy next to her, short brown hair, blue eyes, raglan-sleeved shirt, blue boots, airborne, from below, tiptoes in air, wings spread, low angle, wide shot, sky, clouds, wind, sunlight The view is a steep low-angle wide shot from below, both figures silhouetted against a bright open sky with cumulus clouds wheeling past. Eureka hangs just above and slightly left of centre, green short hair blown flat to one side by the rushing air, strands licking up past her cheek; her purple eyes look straight down at the viewer through the wind, lashes lowered a fraction against the light, lips slightly parted as the air pushes her skirt flat against her thighs. Her butterfly wings rise fully spread from her back, the patterned panels meeting the light edge-on so the translucent thin side catches a pale shimmer while their upper surfaces keep a deep saturated blue-violet with dark eyespots; the wind catches the fabric of her two-tone blue and white long-sleeved dress and snaps it sideways, hem and cuffs streaming out behind her, loose sleeve mouths billowing so the wind funnels through them. Her right hand reaches forward and down, fingers spread, and lets Renton's reaching hand lock into it, thumb wrapped over his knuckles, wrists fitting together into one firm hanging clasp across the diagonal of the frame. Renton hangs just below and to her right, his weight pulling the joined arms taut, short brown hair whipped back from his brow, a raglan-sleeved shirt and blue boots skimming the air; his blue eyes are wide and fixed upward on her face, and his mouth is caught open mid-breath rather than grinning, one shoulder bunched as he fights the air resistance. Their fingers clench, knuckles pale where the wind tugs the linked arms apart, and the two bodies rotate around that point of contact as if the clasp were the axis of a slow swing. Above them the sky is a flat hot blue, the sun high behind the viewer's shoulder casting a hard rim along the top of Eureka's wings and her hair; below them the clouds move, shadows of nothing visible falling across their boots and the dress fabric that flaps in the foreground. The palette is a smooth high-contrast burst of blue sky, green hair, purple eyes and the deep blue wings against a frozen white cloud bank. Airborne, wind-blown, bright and giddy.
