More to See

character: noelle_holiday 2koma, split screen, two-panel vertical split composition, panel divider down the middle, same character in both panels, 1girl, anthropomorphic reindeer girl, brown skin, blonde hair, long hair, hair between eyes, small antlers, deer ears, freckles, brown eyes, red nose, deer tail, hooves, buck teeth, open mouth, smile, cute, left panel: goth outfit, dark makeup, black eyeshadow, walking, full body, sidewalk, rural town street, autumn trees, right panel: normal outfit, long sleeves, black pants, bell-bottoms, sitting, school desk, classroom, window in background, from side. A page split by a single hard vertical divider down the exact middle, two equal panels side by side, full colour throughout, both panels showing the same reindeer girl in two different lives. LEFT PANEL: seen in a full-body side-on walking view along a cracked concrete sidewalk, the girl caught mid-stride with her left hoof planted forward and her right hoof lifted behind, weight rolling over the front hoof, hips swung, her deer tail lifted slightly out behind her and her long blonde hair and the trailing edge of her coat swinging back from the walk. She wears a goth-girl outfit: a black cropped jacket over a black top, a short black skirt with a chain at the hip, black tights ending above black hoof-boots, and heavy dark eye makeup drawn thick around both brown eyes, black shadow smoking out to the temples; her small antlers rise bare above her ears, her freckles speckle her brown cheeks, her red nose catches the light, and her mouth is open in a wide smile with the two buck teeth showing. Her eyes are turned forward along the sidewalk ahead of her, not to the camera. Behind and around her, a small rural town street: low wooden houses with porches and a picket fence, telephone poles receding, and rows of autumn trees in gold, rust and amber, a few leaves caught mid-fall and drifting across her path. Cool late-afternoon light comes in low from the upper left, laying long shadows of the tree trunks across the sidewalk and striking the left side of her face and shoulder while the right side falls into soft shade. RIGHT PANEL: seen from a three-quarter side view at desk height, the girl seated on a chair at a wooden school desk, both hooves flat on the floor, her body turned slightly toward the desk with one forearm resting along its edge and the other hand loose beside an open notebook, her back gently curved forward. She wears her normal outfit: a soft green long-sleeved sweater with a white collar, black bell-bottom pants flaring over her hoof-boots, and a small hairclip and star ornament in her long blonde hair; her small antlers, deer ears, freckles and red nose read clearly, and her deer tail rests against the back of the chair. Her head is turned toward the tall classroom window behind her, eyes looking out over the sill at the bright autumn trees beyond the glass, her open-mouthed smile with the buck teeth softened and quieter in the daylight. The classroom around her: rows of empty desks, a chalkboard at the far wall, a wall map, wooden floorboards. Daylight floods in through the window as the panel's one light source, rimming the back of her hair and the edge of one antler and laying a bright window-shaped patch across the desk surface and her sleeve, while the far corners of the room stay in dim grey shadow. The palette splits cleanly at the divider: the left panel leans on black, oxblood, rust and amber; the right panel on soft green, chalk-white, warm wood and pale blue window light. Manga-flavoured linework and a light screentone wash in the shadows, no hatching on the faces. A few fallen leaves lie stuck flat to the sidewalk in the left panel; on the right, the window glass throws a faint doubled reflection of the trees over the sill. Quiet, wistful, warm.
